IHSJ Issue: Haiti
For centuries, Haiti has born the brunt of misguided foreign policy and international assistance, which have prevented democracy from flourishing and have impeded social sector development. The IHSJ is collaborating with other organizations to immediately eliminate Haiti’s debt to international financial institutions, as well as to investigate the harmful effects of withholding aid and loans to Haiti’s social sectors, and to uncover the role of outside influence in President Aristide’s removal in 2004.
