Lesotho health leaders said the country's first medical oxygen plant is a landmark for building a stronger health system during COVID-19 and beyond

PIH Kazakhstan Country Director Dr. Yerkebulan Algozhin is among staff who have recovered from COVID-19 this year, and said facing a pandemic while continuing tuberculosis care has brought his team closer together - as they now prepare for a second wave of the novel virus. 

The UNDP honor specially recognizes PIH's work to reach communities in remote mountain areas of the southern Africa nation, through local health centers and village health workers.

PIH researchers, clinicians helped lead study that again showed new-generation TB drugs to be more effective, including for patients with additional diseases.

The expansion will greatly improve Pleebo's capacity to meet emergency needs and provide care in areas ranging from hypertension and diabetes to maternal and child health.
