The Partners In Health Women’s Alliance is a philanthropic, learning, and service initiative that mobilizes women philanthropists to improve the health of women and children worldwide. Members engage with PIH leadership and staff, advocate for patients, build relationships, and mobilize resources—going beyond donations to serve as hands-on allies to PIH’s mission. Women now hold greater philanthropic influence than ever, even as women’s health and rights face growing threats. Women deliver more than 90% of care globally and are the backbone of families and health systems. When women are healthy, poverty declines and communities prosper—investing in women’s health strengthens health for all.
In 2016, following an inspiring trip to Haiti, the Women’s Alliance of Chicago was born. What began as a small group of passionate women evolved into a dynamic force dedicated to advancing philanthropy, advocacy, and education around global health challenges. Over the years, the Women’s Alliance has experienced remarkable growth, mobilizing vital resources, hosting impactful fundraising events, and cultivating a diverse donor base to support key PIH initiatives.
Expanding beyond Chicago, the Women’s Alliance now reaches into South Florida, welcoming women from Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties.
In 2018, the Women's Alliance started the New Mothers Kit Packing Program. This biannual event in Chicago accompanies PIH’s Journey to 9 Program at Kay Manmito, a maternal waiting home at the Hôpital Universitaire de Mirebalais (HUM) in Mirebalais, Haiti. Since its inception, the Women’s Alliance has sent over 4,500 kits to new mothers in Haiti. Kits contain the supplies new mothers need to care for themselves and their infants such as baby blankets and hats, breast pumps, baby lotion and soap, hand sanitizer, thermometers, and feminine pads.

Rosemitha Martial, mother of twin girls, Rosemerline and Roselanda, received an emergency c-section at University Hospital Mirebalais (HUM). Her babies, weighing less than 3 pounds each, needed neonatal intensive care and Rosemitha required psychological care. After receiving the comprehensive care they needed at HUM, Rosemitha and her babies were brought to Kay Manmito and the twins were able to grow in the Kangaroo Care Unit. After one month, the twins had doubled in weight and were ready to go home. To support her baby girls, Rosemitha plans on selling goods.
